Surviving earthquakes


Surviving an earthquake is a commonly understood thing in places that have frequent earthquakes. However, not all places prone to earthquakes hold as many drills as they should; Making it important for you to take earthquake safety and the means of surviving earthquakes into your own hands; especially if your community and schools aren’t teaching earthquake survival.
 Curling up in the fetal position is a wonderful way of survival. Getting next to large or bulky object such as your sofa or in a doorway are great places to be. Remember, protect your neck and head! While you can survive a broken arm; it is rarely the case with a crushed skull or broken neck.
 If you are outside during an earthquake, steer clear of any trees or power lines! These will pose a threat to your safety. If you are inside of a vehicle, do not continue to drive! You never know when the earth may open and you will indeed be injured or killed.
Lastly, the best way to survive an earthquake is by becoming prepared! Run drills with your family and friends. Picking a meeting place if you are all at different locations throughout the day.
