Preparing a safe room

A safe room is just that, safe. Preparing a safe room is a wonderful idea in the case of a possible emergency. A safe room can help to protect you from windstorms or possible terrorist attacks. However, not many people know exactly what or how to create a safe room that will adequately keep their families safe.
Generally, a safe room should be located in a basement-level floor. It should sit directly atop of your foundation or concrete slab such as a garage floor. If you aren’t able to get to a safe room in your basement, you should choose a room without windows on the first floor of your home. Allowing you to steer clear of any possible glass-breaks due to severe wind.
Once you have chosen your safe room, you should keep it stocked with plenty of bedding, food, water, and emergency medical supplies that you may need. Including toys or games for young children and infants; of which will help to keep them from being bored.
