Preparing for a hurricane
Preparing for a hurricane doesn’t have to be a tiresome chore. Instead, think of it as a way of creating a safe place for you and your family. Not to mention protecting your property from the force of a hurricane. Before you prepare for a hurricane, you must understand the possible means of destruction that the hurricane may hit your home with. From flooding, storm surges, high winds, and tornados. There are many different disasters waiting to happen. You should make sure to understand these hazards better so that you can prepare accordingly for a hurricane.
You should begin stocking up on your hurricane supplies now. Whether that is, wood for boarding up your windows and anchors for your heavy or tall furniture. All of which will help to keep you, your family, and your home safer during a hurricane. These aren’t last minute items! They can be stored along with your food and water in your pantry or safe room.
Lastly, you should have an evacuation plan! Once this is in place it will be easier for you to manage your escape if a hurricane warning goes into effect. |
