Managing water supplies

Managing water supplies may seem like a daunting task. However, it doesn’t need to be something to fear. It is an essential that will help you to survive any possible disaster or emergency that you may face. But, how do you manage your water supply for an emergency? First, you must consider how much water we need per day. While the amount per person may vary depending on age, physical condition, and the time of year; the general is that most people drink a minimum of one half of a gallon of water per day to survive. This amount should be saved with your food storage in preparation of a minimum of two weeks to six months.
You should of course drink the water that you know isn’t contaminated first in a disaster. Drinking no less than a quart of water per day per-person; however, if you run out of clean water. You should then begin considering purifying possibly contaminated water to drink, so that you can stay hydrated.
Steer clear of any carbonated beverages in times of emergency. As much as we may rely on our caffeine in our daily lives, it can cause dehydration.
Some safe sources of water are ice cubes, water from your un-damaged water heater, and water from drained pipes in your home. These are all great places to get water if you find yourself without a water supply.
