Hazardous material

       Hazardous material or “dangerous goods” also known as “HazMat” are solids, liquids, or gases that are known to harm humans and other living beings. These items can be radioactive, flammable, explosive, oxidizing, asphyxiating, corrosive, toxic, pathogenic, or allergenic. All of which have the possibilities of harming the human species as we know it today.
       While hazardous materials are handled with care, what would happen if we came in contact with them in the case of an emergency? While there are emergency response teams that specialize in dealing with accidents and spills of hazardous materials; it is possible that a disaster would be too big to handle for them. For this reason, we must all be prepared in taking care of our own safety and survival.
       A couple ways to stay prepared are to have respirators or face masks handy in your survival kit, along with body suits, food storage, and water storage. All of which will help you to stay safe in the event of an emergency involving hazardous materials.
